Generate Dignified Rural Livelihoods

Creating economic opportunities that honor tradition and provide stable incomes for artisan families

Generate Dignified Rural Livelihoods

Livelihoods That Preserve Heritage

We believe dignified work is a fundamental human right. Our livelihoods program creates economic opportunities that allow families to thrive while maintaining their cultural identity and connection to ancestral crafts.

Through fair-trade silk production, cooperative formation, and financial literacy training, we help artisan families break cycles of poverty without abandoning the traditions that define their communities.

Our Approach

Building sustainable economic foundations

1

Skills Assessment

We identify existing skills and knowledge within communities, building on traditional expertise rather than replacing it with external models.

2

Training & Capacity Building

Hands-on training in improved techniques, quality standards, and business skills that complement traditional knowledge.

3

Cooperative Formation

Helping artisans organize into cooperatives that provide collective bargaining power, shared resources, and mutual support.

4

Market Integration

Connecting producers to fair-trade markets that value quality and pay prices that reflect the true worth of their work.

From the Field

From Daily Wages to Business Owner

Sualkuchi, Assam

Meena Devi spent years weaving for middlemen who paid her barely enough to survive. Despite her exceptional skill, she had no control over prices or working conditions.

After joining our cooperative program, Meena received training in quality standards and business management. Today, she leads a group of 12 weavers who sell directly to ethical brands, earning three times their previous income.

"For the first time in my life, I decide what my work is worth. My daughters see that weaving can be a respected profession, not just survival."
— Meena Devi, Master Weaver & Cooperative Leader
